After a few weeks off in the racing calendar to allow for the school work, it was back to Mondello Raceway for round 2 of the Rallysport Association Summer Series at the weekend.

Killybegs-based Jayden McBrearty was celebrating his latest success.

A cautious start after a few weeks away from racing saw McBrearty fourth overall after the first stage.

The young Donegal driver got tuned into the task ahead and got the head down to focus which resulted in a string of fastest times over the next number of laps.

This focus and determined drive ground McBrearty out the overall win by 8.7 seconds and the Junior class win by a minute and 35.6 seconds.

More importantly, he secured key championship points for the year ahead.

The Rally Sport Association series allows for navigators - a major benefit to attract sponsors and experience especially for the junior drivers on the grid - and this weekend McBrearty had long-term sponsor Barry O’Hara from Mooney Boats on board.

O’Hara is a regular competitor in the Mini Series.

As always motorsport is always heavily depended on sponsors and Jayden’s team have acknowledged: The Stables Motorsport Centre, Pod-Track, Mooney Boats, Toolforce.ie, Speedcar IRL & UK, KER Group, TrailerStuff.ie, TC Promotions, CBM SIgns.ie, BAHCO, Finoil and JFS Crash Repairs John’s Auto Services.

The focus now turns to the next round of ICCR Championship, which is back in Mondello in just under three weeks.
