A YOUNG Late Late Toy Show star, who shot to fame due to his mature nature, stole the hearts of many once again when featuring on national radio.
Sheamie Garrihy, 7, from Kilfenora, Clare, featured as a guest on the popular 2 Johnnies radio show Drive It on RTÉ 2fm this Monday. Host Johnny Smacks, or John McMahon, said: “Paddy Kielty was good but Sheamie Garrihy was great!”
Among singing and having the craic with the two Tipperary hosts and their co-host, Aifric O’Connell, Sheamie made audiences laugh once again with his anecdotes.
Having become an online sensation from featuring on the latest Late Late Toy Show, which aired on Friday, November 24, Sheamie made a big impression on fans with his humour and indeed, style.
“I had to come up to the top of the road to get phone coverage,” Sheamie said to the 2 Johnnies. “Ye are lucky ye get to talk to me - all I want for Christmas is a bit of phone coverage,” he said.
During his interview, Sheamie told the 2 Johnnies live on air that his hairstyle inspiration was to do with a trip his parents had made: “I’ve had my mullet seven years now.
“When my mammy and daddy were in Australia, when I was in their belly at the time, and the mullet is a big thing in Australia, so I think I was growing it in my mammy’s belly.”
The reactions from the hosts and most likely, audiences, upon hearing this was nothing short of hysterics.
Sheamie has also responded to his new-found fame by releasing a statement online, which reads: “A load of young ones my own age were asking me for pictures with them and an autograph.
“I could hardly eat my breakfast because of the Toy Show. A load of young ones my own age were asking me for pictures with them and an autograph. All I know is I won’t be stuck for an auld beour.”
The Toy Show star’s parents Caitriona and Jamie said: “He’s always like that. He’s around older people all the time, my brothers would always be around, and Jamie’s brothers.”
