The Cork County Board has officially stated that a conclusive decision is still pending on the naming rights for Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Retailer, SuperValu, were poised to secure naming rights to the stadium for an initial five-year period.

The possible agreement, reportedly has an estimated value of up to €1.5 million, seeing the possibility of rebranding Cork's revered GAA venue as SuperValu Páirc.

A statement from Cork GAA said: "While no matter had been finalised prior to the meeting of delegates to the County Board on Tuesday evening, both sides have been conscious of the public debate that followed recent speculation in the media.

"SuperValu and Cork GAA remain committed to continuing their engagement, as both parties share a common interest in supporting Gaelic games across the county, and discussions are continuing."

Páirc Uí Chaoimh, steeped in history and tradition, holds a special place in the hearts of GAA enthusiasts. The potential alteration of its name has generated diverse reactions among fans, with some expressing concerns about the potential commercialisation of a venue deeply entrenched in sporting legacy.
