One man arrested after heroin worth 300,000 euros seized in Dublin

One man has been arrested after heroin worth 300,000 euros was seized in Dublin.

The drugs were recovered during a search operation in the Smithfield area of the city centre on Saturday.

Gardai attached to Bridewell Garda Station conducted a search of an apartment.

As well as heroin worth in excess of 300,000 euros, a quantity of suspected cocaine and items related to the street supply of illegal drugs were also seized during the operation.

The detained suspect is aged in his 30s.

He was arrested in connection with the seizure and on Saturday evening remained detained at a Garda station in Dublin under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The seized drugs are to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
