Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman died after she was struck by a jeep while out walking.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 7am this Thursday on Ballinteer Avenue in Ballinteer, Dublin 16.
"The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was taken to St James's Hospital where she has since been pronounced deceased. No other injuries to persons were reported," said a gardai spokesperson.
Ballinteer Avenue was closed for a time following the incident to facilitate forensic and technical examinations of the scene.
Gardaí at Blackrock station are appealing for any witnesses, including motorists with dash-cam footage, to come forward and to make any footage available to them.
