National: 'You clowns' - GAA fans outraged as Croke Park scraps screenshots of mobile tickets

GAA fans have expressed anger following news Croke Park is scrapping screenshots of mobile tickets.

The move was announced by Croke Park yesterday (February 15) in an X (formerly Twitter) post, which stated: "Please note for this weekend screenshots of mobile tickets will no longer work for entry.

"Mobile tickets must be downloaded to your phone wallet in advance. Printed tickets will also be accepted."

It comes as Dublin are expected to face Roscommon at Croke Park this Saturday (February 17) at 5pm.

The response online was swift, with one fan commenting: "You clowns. Yet another roadblock put in the way of people who want to attend games. Ashamed and embarrassed of the contempt the Association has for fans at times."

Another person weighed in: "The GAA must not want anyone to go to matches now. Why are they making it difficult for people to go especially those to might go last minute?" while another stated: "I can travel all around the world, passing through the most secure, military protected airports in the world with a Screenshot, but I can’t get into a stadium with one to watch 30 amateurs play football."
A further comment read: "Complete nonsense entirely at odds for a large chunk of your audience. First you take paying cash away from people now you can't even let someone help an old person by screenshotting for them. Tone deaf as usual from HQ."
Another person was determined to flout the rule, commenting: "I pay for my ticket, I show you my ticket on my phone, Im going in."

It is unknown whether the move is permanent at this time.

Croke Park has been contacted for comment.
