Siún Ní Raghallaigh 'indicated' she would resign if sent a letter by Media Minister

Catherine Martin has told an Oireachtas committee that Siún Ní Raghallaigh had indicated she would resign is a letter was sent to the Department.

Following the resignation of the former Chair of the RTE Board, the media minister, Catherine Martin, faced questions at an Oireachtas committee.

It has been revealed that Ms Martin wanted to express her disappointment in a letter to the former chair of the board before about being misinformed twice on the exit package of former chief financial officer, Richard Collins.

According to Ms Martin, Ms Ní Raghallaigh informed her department officials that she would not be prepared to accept a letter from the media minister.

Ms Martin was hoping Ms Ní Raghallaigh would “reflect and think about having a meeting” with her, as she was indicated she might resign if she received a letter.

Speaking of the former chair, Ms Martin said: "I thought she was a great chair, but the crucial piece is I have to be in possession of the facts.”
