National: Elderly driver flags down gardaí after getting stranded on way to visit wife in hospital

A heartwarming incident unfolded when gardaí came to the aid of an elderly driver whose car had a blown-out tire.

The driver, on his way to visit his wife in the hospital, was stranded until the local authority stepped in.

While on patrol, the Roads Policing Unit in Blanchardstown were flagged down by the distressed driver.

They quickly realised the urgency of the situation and changed the tire promptly, allowing the driver to continue his journey.

A garda spokesperson said: "It’s important we all help one another so we were only happy to change the wheel."
