A motorist who admitted driving home at high speed in an effort to "keep their takeaway warm" has been fined and will receive penalty points on their driving licence.
Gardai in County Kildare have highlighted the detection, which occurred recently on the R3727 - Sallins bypass.
In a post on social media, they say members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit were performing routine speed checks when they encountered a white BMW which was travelling at a speed of 110km/h in an 80km/h zone.
According to gardai, when stopped, the driver of the car informed them that they were trying to get home to keep their takeaway warm.
"That pizza just cost €160 more with three penalty points as an extra topping," they quipped.

No further details of the incident have been disclosed publicly.
