Garda probe launched as teen rushed to hospital after horror shooting in Limerick

The discharge of a firearm occurred on Hyde Avenue, Ballinacurra, Weston on Sunday last

GARDAÍ are investigating all the circumstances in relation to the discharge of a firearm that occurred on Hyde Avenue, Ballinacurra, Weston on the night of Sunday, October 20 at approximately 8pm.

One man, aged in his late teens, sustained a non-life threatening injury. He was removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick where his condition remains stable.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident come forward.

Any person who was in the vicinity of Hyde Road, Ballinacurra area on Sunday evening between 7.30pm and 8.30pm is asked to contact investigating Gardaí. Any road users who were travelling on the Hyde Road and surrounding areas during this time and who noticed any unusual activity are asked to come forward.

Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in this area are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing at this time.
