Andy Farrell’s Ireland side will welcome old foes New Zealand to Dublin tonight in the highly-anticipated first game of the Autumn Series.

It’s set to be the first meeting of the sides since Farrell’s team were defeated 28-24 in the quarter-finals of the 2023 World Cup in France.

Ireland went 111 years without beating New Zealand – losing 27 and drawing once in 28 meetings – before a 40-29 success in Chicago in 2016.

Including that landmark victory at Soldier Field, the reigning Six Nations champions have won five of the last nine matches against the All Blacks - including securing a historic 2-1 tour success in 2022.

They went into the World Cup as Test rugby’s top-ranked team but trailed New Zealand for the majority of the last-eight encounter at Stade de France before falling short.

Farrell’s side, who also host Argentina, Fiji and Australia this month, recovered from that setback by retaining the Guinness Six Nations title in March before securing a 1-1 summer series draw away to world champions South Africa.

After hosting the All Blacks, Ireland then face Argentina and Fiji before concluding their November schedule against Australia.
