Woman dies after being hit by car in Co Wexford

A pedestrian has died after she was hit by a car in Co Wexford.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision on the N25 at Stokestown, which happened at approximately 7.10pm on Sunday.

The woman, in her 50s, died after the collision and gardai said no other injuries were reported.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.

The eastbound N25 remained closed on Monday morning and local diversions were in place through New Ross.

A technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators is due to take place.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, from the area at the time are asked to make it available to investigating gardai.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact New Ross Garda Station on 051 426 030, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
