A driver who was clocked going over two and a half times the speed limit was arrested by gardaí over the weekend.

Gardaí were out doing routine speed checks on the Snugborough Road in Blanchardstown, Co Dublin over the weekend when they clocked the BMW driver doing an outrageous speed.

In a statement posted to An Garda Síochána's X account, they said: "We were out on the Snugborough Road in Blanchardstown over the weekend carrying out speed checks when they detected this car travelling at a 151km/h in a 60km/h zone!

"They were stopped and the driver was arrested for dangerous driving. Court to follow."
