Gardai in Waterford city are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road crash on the Williamstown Road this Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 1pm, emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a motorcycle.
"The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course," said a spokesperson.
Gardai say the driver of the car, a woman aged in her 30s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
No other injuries reported.

As of 8pm, Garda Forensic Collision Investigators were conducting an examination of the scene and motorists are being advised the road remains closed with local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this crash to come forward and any road users who were travelling in the area between 12.50pm and 1.30pm and who have dash-cam footage are asked to make the footage available to gardai
Homeowners along the Williamstown Road who may have CCTV or doorbell-camera footage are also asked to make this available.
