Netflix reveal details of new 'House of Guinness' series from creator of Peaky Blinders

Netflix have released the first images from the highly anticipated series based on the Guinness family

Netflix have unveiled the release date and given a first look at their eagerly anticipated upcoming series 'House of Guinness'. The new show explores an epic story inspired by one of Europe's most famous and enduring dynasties - the Guinness family. 

The series, created and written by Steven Knight will be released on Netflix on September 25. Knight, who has recently been announced as the writer of the next installment of James Bond has been one of the most influential figures in television this century.

He has created a host of successful shows including Who wants to be a millionaire?, Peaky Blinders, Taboo, SAS: Rogue Heroes and A Thousand Blows. Knight will be hoping that his newest venture into one of Ireland's most famous families can generate similar success.

Set in 19th century Dublin and New York, 'House of Guinness' will begin immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery.

The show will examine the impact of the will he left behind following his death and how it shapes his four children Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben as they are tasked with interacting with the phenomenon that is Guinness. 

The drama will focus on the power struggle amongst the children for control of the family empire. It will delve into how the inheritance and secrets behind it will play out for the faith of the dynasty as it's not just the children impacted but also the associates and workers who's livelihoods are tied to the brewery.

The cast of the four Guinness children brings a host of acting talent. Anthony Boyle (Masters of the Air, Manhunt) will play Arthur Guinness, Louis Partridge (Disclaimer, Enola Holmes) will portray Edward Guinness, Fionn O'Shea (Normal People, Dance First) will play Benjamin Guinness and Emily Fairn (The Responder, Saturday knight) will play Anne Plunket (née Guinness). 

Other members of the ensemble cast include Cork's Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones) who will play Byron Hedges, James Norton (Little Women) who will portray Sean Rafferty, Dervla Kirwan (True Detective) will feature as Aunt Agnes Guinness and Seamus O'Hara (An Irish Goodbye) who will play Patrick Cochrane. 

House of Guinness was produced by Kudos and Nebulastar, it was mainly filmed in Manchester and Liverpool as parts of both cities were transformed to depict Dublin and New York. 

The eight episode series will be available to stream on Netflix from Thursday, September 25.
