NCT Service spokesperson said they would ask inspectors to review the map

A spokesperson from the National Car Testing Service told Donegal Live that they would “get the necessary changes made and ensure the correct detail is on the map going forward” after a Donegal Town resident received a poor-quality map to the Donegal Town NCT Centre.

The resident received the NCT booking letter on July 2, with a provisional booking listed for his vehicle at the Donegal Town NCT Centre on the Killybegs Road.

On the other side of the letter was a map that was supposed to help drivers get to the NCT Test Centre, which was outdated, erroneous, and on a distorted scale.

The road was listed at the M56 rather than the N56, whilst landmarks still included the now-gone O’Donnell’s Motors Volkswagen, and also misspelling Volkswagen.

Furthermore, the map gives the impression that the old O’Donnell’s Motors Volkswagen is adjacent to the roundabout, which connects the N56 and R925 and is positioned near Páirc Tír Conaill of Four Masters GAA.

An NCT Service spokesperson said: “These maps only go out with a small number of letters, as most people use Google Maps these days.

“This would appear to be a typo, and I apologise for that. I will speak with the local inspectors and ask them to review the map for me, and I will then get the necessary changes made and ensure the correct detail is on the map going forward.”
