Greyhound Racing Ireland have confirmed that Lifford Greyhound Stadium is set to reopen on Sunday, April 2.

In August 2019, the traps were closed for the last time and after a gap of three-and-a-half years the action is set to return to the border town venue.

“April 2, will be the night to head to the North West for Lifford's long awaited return to the Irish scene,” reads a statement from Greyhound Racing Ireland.

“Details are still being finalised but it is planned to hold four open races on an eight-race card, starting at 6pm. There will be a low-key graded eight-race meeting the previous Sunday, March 26, at the same time.

“This will be a special invite only meeting for owners/trainers and friends of the track. Private trials recommence on Saturday, February 11, from 10am until 12 noon. Recorded trials every Tuesday, starting February 14, with weigh-in from 11.30am to 12 noon."

Lifford Stadium was first opened in 1959 and the 17.5 acre site includes a 240-seater restaurant overlooking the track.
