Oisín Ó Gailín
Oisín Ó Gailín became only the second Donegal athlete to run a sub four-minute mile on Friday night.
The Finn Valley AC man clocked 3:59.07 while competing at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
The Ballybofey native has been attempting to dip below four minutes for some time now and has been agonisingly close on occasion.
Ó Gailín initially went to the United States on a scholarship, studying most recently at University of Wyoming.
Ó Gailín is the first Donegal man to break four minutes while running indoors.
In London in 2005, Stranorlar's Gary Murray ran a 3:59.52 to become the first Donegal athlete to break the magical mark.
Earlier this month, Ó Gailín set a new Finn Valley AC 5k road record when clocking 14:05.54 in Springfield, Illinois.
Last year, he broke the Finn Valley AC 1500m record. At the Fresno State Invitational, he ran 3:45.30, breaking his own 3:46.39 mark from 2019.
