Mark English has been confirmed as part of the Ireland team for the 2023 European Indoor Championships.
The Finn Valley AC runner will go to Istanbul next week looking to add to his four European medals.
English is in fine fettle this season. After winning the ninth Irish senior indoor 800m title (17th overall) of his career on Sunday, English won an 800m on Wednesday night in Madrid.
English led the way from Spain’s Pablo Sanchez-Valladares, and his 1:46.57 at the at the Gallur Municipal Sports Centre was his joint second fastest indoor time.
The European Indoors take place from March 2-5 at the at the Ataköy Arena.
Meanwhile, English's coach, Feidhlim Kelly, has been confirmed as one of Athletics Ireland's new High Performance Support Coaches for 2023.
This is supported by increased Sport Ireland funding intended to support the implementation of the High Performance Strategy.
The targeted supported coaches – who also include Brendan Boyce's coach, Rob Heffernan - will receive financial support, prioritised support at major championships, support towards continuing professional development, and enhanced access to performance services.
English has flourished since linking up with Kelly, who also coaches Andrew Coscoran, Hiko Tonosa and Michelle Finn.
