Children attending the come and try programme at Finn Valley AC
A new ‘junior athletics come and try’ programme is underway at Finn Valley AC.
The programme is aimed at primary school children from third-sixth classes.
Already, it has proved a huge hit with the budding athletes of the area.
Under the watch of Finn Valley AC coach Ann Slevin, children can try their hand at a variety of events.
For an hour every Monday, they can have a go at sprints and hurdles on the track.
They can try clear the bar at the high jump or leap into the sand at the long jump pit.
Participants can also attempt the javelin throw while relay races are also part of the fun-filled evenings.
These are designed to give children a chance to experience various athletics events.
The programme lasts for six weeks and anyone interested can book here: https://bit.ly/JUNIOR-ATHLETICS
Third and fourth class are in from 3.30-4.30pm with fifth and sixth class going from 4.30-5.30pm.
The after school activity is undertaken in small groups to ensure the maximum attention for those who join.
