Jordan Furey, right, with Darragh Kelly in Portsmouth on Saturday night.
Letterkenny mixed martial artist Jordan Furey captured the Shock 'n' Awe lightweight title on Saturday night.
Furey went to the lion's den to defeat Charlie Hatton in Portsmouth.
The 23-year-old took the title on Hatton's home patch on a split decision. On St Patrick's weekend, it was certainly a sweet win for the Donegal fighter.
After three rounds, Furey, who entered the cage to 'The Auld Triangle' won on scorecards of 28-29 28-27 29-28.
Furey, who trains out of SBG in Dublin, is now a two-weight Shock n' Awe title holder having won the welterweight crown in October when beating Connor Tymon, also in Portsmouth.
Furey improves his amateur record to 10-2 with the 25-year-old Hatton falling to 9-3.
Unbeaten Bellator pro Darragh Kelly was with Furey on Saturday night, the 'Moville Mauler' having recently defeated Dorval Jordan via a third round stoppage at the 3Arena in Dublin.
