Caoimhe Gallen won the under-17 shot put at the Juvenile Indoor Championships in Athlone on Saturday.

The Lifford-Strabane AC woman threw out to 12.73m on her fourth go.

Gallen's win came just six days after winning the under-17 hammer at the National Spring Throws Championships in Tullamore.

Gallen was a whisker from European qualification in 2022 and has started this year in solid fashion.

Tir Chonaill AC's Ava Anderson left with bronze in the same event, throwing out to 11.35m. Sheila Gallagher of Rosses AC was seventh, throwing a best of 10.43m.

Alex Anderson of Tir Chonaill AC took bronze in the under-19 shot. Anderson's best effort of 11.54m was enough for a podium spot.

Lifford-Strabane AC duo Luke Ward (10.56m) and Una O'Donnell (9.29m) were fifth in the under-18 and under-19 shot put competitions.

Finn Valley AC under-12s grabbed bronze in the under-12 4x200m relay.

Jasmine Barrett-Doherty, Caoimhe McElhinney, Abbi Lyons and Rhia Toner clocked 2:02.39 for third, finishing behind Ferrybank (1:59.73) and Dundalk St Gerard's (2:01.22).
