Brian Boyce has booked a spot in the M45 400m semi-finals at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships.
On Sunday evening, the Milford man clocked a season's best time of 54.61 seconds in his heat.
Boyce, a brother of three-time Olympic race walker Brendan, finished second in his heat, the last of the five heats.
Boyce now competes for the An Riocht club in Kerry and advanced to Monday's 400m semi-finals at Arena Toruń in Poland.
Earlier on Sunday, Finn Valley AC's Kay Byrne finished fifth in her W60 3000m final, finishing in 12:14.25 on the opening day of the Championships.
The 3000m final was won by Elena Fustella of Italy, who landed a season's best of 11:36.60.
Byrne will be back in action on Monday morning in the 8k cross country and also goes in the 1500m on Saturday.
Finn Valley AC's Sinead McConnell – a multiple medallist at major masters championships in the past – will toe the line in the 3k race walk on Tuesday and the Castlefin woman will be in 10k race walk action on Friday.
Her sister Catriona Devine has a 1500m final on Saturday while two other Finn Valley AC athletes, Noreen Bonner in the half marathon on Saturday and Garvin Boyce in Friday's 1500m heats, are also in action.
Letterkenny AC's Kathryn McDevitt lines up in the 200m heats on Thursday and will also hope to be in the medal hunt in the relays.
Shane Toolan of Tir Chonaill, a late entrant, has his 60m heats on Monday and 200m heats on Thursday.
