Jason Quigley wants to stir old memories as he returns to the National Stadium on Saturday night.

In the ten years since he last fought at the home of Irish boxing, Quigley has been back as a spectator and pundit – but now he'll dance himself again between those famous old ropes.

Quigely (19-2, 14KOs) will face Anatoli Hunanyan (9-8-1), who has stepped in following an injury to planned opponent Kim Poulsen.

Quigley has not fought since November 2021, when he was beaten by Demetrius Andrade for the WBO middleweight title.

The Ballybofey man wants this to be the first tentative steps on the road back to the big days.

A ten-time Irish champion as an amateur, Quigley, who is trained by Andy Lee, hasn't found on the South Circular Road since a win over Rachid Hamai from France on May 5, 2013.

“I’ve had many great memories there,” Quigley said.

“Becoming the national senior champion there was one of my special nights.

“It is a pleasure to take this opportunity in Dublin, to take the chance to get professional boxing back on its feet.
“I want to leave this sport in a much better place than when I came into it. Professional boxing needs that in Ireland.”

Quigley's fight with Hunanyan headlines a show promoted by Elite Promotions and Sheer Sports, with the hope of it being the first in a series of pro shows in Ireland.

Hunanyan fills the void left by Poulsen who sustained a bicep injury when sparring recently.

Quigley wants the night to be the start of his own way back to the top of the sport.

He said: “I am not just coming back here for the sake of it.
“I am coming back here to win a world title again. This is the start of it.”
