Rhys Irwin in the lead around Knockhill.
Rhys Irwin won the feature race on Sunday at Knockhill in round four of the British Superbike Championship.
The Kilmacrennan rider was also on the podium on Saturday when finishing third.
Irwin got Sunday off to a perfect start, settling nicely into the pace. By the third lap of the Scottish track, Irwin was in front by a second.
The Donegal man held his nerve and his position, running perfect lines to hold off Luke Stapleford, the British Supersport Champion and Ben Currie.
There was delight for the Irwin team as he crossed the line in first and soon he was popping the champagne from the top of the podium.
“I'm just so, so happy and what a present for my dad on Father's Day,” Irwin said.
“Knockhill is one of the hardest circuits on the calendar and it's my first time here with this bike.
“I knew I had the fight for the win after Saturday's race, but I just didn't believe I would do it so early in the season.
“To get the podium on Saturday and back it up on Sunday with the win is unreal. Thanks to my team for the constant work on the bike and of course all my sponsors I just wouldn't be here without.”
On Saturday, Irwin was third and firmly on the heels of World Supersport racer Tom Booth Amos and Stapleford.
