Finn Valley AC duo Sean McGinley and Neil Martin are set for the European Under-23 Championships this week.
Martin is manager of the Irish team that includes his club mate McGinley, who will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase.
McGinley is one of 31 athletes who will be among the 1,100 competitors in Espoo.
Ireland will battle it out with 40 other European Federations as they look to add to the nine Irish medals (individual) which have been secured at these championships since its inception in 1997.
Among the previous medal winners is Eilish Flanagan, now also at Finn Valley, who was the 3,000m steeplechase silver medallist in 2019.
In April, McGinley booked his place when he wiped out a 37-year-old record at the Irish Universities Championships in winning the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at the IUAA Outdoor Championships.
At Dundrum South Dublin’s new track, the DCU scholarship student took gold in 8:46.90 - a new Donegal record.
That time took out the 8:58.70 clocked by Enda Fitzpatrick of UCD back in 1986.
Glenfin native Martin has had plenty of experience on the international stage and was last year manager of the Ireland team for the World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.
