Roisin Flanagan finished a fine ninth in a top level women’s 5,000m in Belgium on Wednesday evening.

The Finn Valley AC woman finished in 15:26.32 at the Meeting International d'Athletisme de la Province de Liege, a World Athletics Continental Tour bronze level meet.

Flanagan has returned from the United States with her twin Eilish ahead of the National Senior Championships at the end of the month.

In May,  Flanagan lowered the Ulster and Donegal 5,000m records in California when going 15:26.32.

In 2022, she eclipsed the 15:28.80 set by Katy Mccandless, who was with Finn Valley when she ran at the Oslo Grand Prix in 1996.

Wednesday’s run suggests good form ahead of the Seniors in Santry on the last weekend of July.
