Letterkenny woman Maria Kealy is set to begin the FIBA Under-20 European Championships in Romania this evening.

Ireland face Greece in Craiova in their opening game.

Ireland will compete in the ‘B’ Division and have been drawn in Group B alongside hosts Romania, Greece and Georgia.

Kealy, a Letterkenny Blaze graduate who now plays for Ulster University Tigers, is one of the players on the squad to now bridge the gap from the Ireland Under-18s.

At the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championships, Kealy proved an effective facilitator, contributing 7.4 assists per game to go with 5.4 rebounds and a team high 36-minutes per game.

Letterkenny man Andrew McGeever, also a former Blaze player, is the assistant coach with the Under-20s, working alongside head coach Karl Kilbride.
