Mona McSharry has booked a place in the 50m breaststroke semi-final at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan.
McSharry, who swam in the 100m breaststroke final on Tuesday, got through her heat of the 50m event on Saturday morning.
The graduate of the Marlins Swimming Club was seventh in her heat, 12th overall, in 30.45 seconds.
On Thursday, McSharry bowed out of the 200m breaststroke competition. The Grange woman was firmly in the mix when fifth at 150m, but a 2:26.27 finish wasn’t enough for qualification.
McSharry had finished her 200m heat in 2:26.59 and closed the event 15th.
McSharry was just 0.13 of a second from a 100m breaststroke medal in Fukuoka on Tuesday, finishing fifth in 1:06.07.
On Monday, McSharry confirmed her place at the 2024 Olympic Games with a massive new Irish record on Monday morning.
McSharry dipped under 1:06 for the first time, winning her heat in 1:05.55 before finishing in 1:05.96 in her semi-final.
