At Sunday's finals in Tullamore, Tir Chonaill AC senior women were third in Division 1 while the club's senior men finished fifth in the Premier Division

Tir Chonaill AC women won Division 1 team bronze at the AAI National League final in Tullamore on Sunday.

Tir Chonaill AC ended on 108.5 points with hosts Tullamore Harriers topping the charges on 137 points for gold and Lagan Valley taking silver having amassed 132 points.

Siobhan Doherty won the 1500m walk for Tir Chonaill, going through in 7:30.95 for a comfortable victory.

Geraldine Stewart claimed victory in the shot put when throwing out to 10.75m with her second effort of the day. Stewart was also fifth in the hammer with a best throw of 18.78m.

Letterkenny AC duo Kathryn McDevitt and Fern Duffy guested for the Tir Chonaill club on Sunday. Duffy was third in both the 100m (13.26 seconds) and triple jump (9.58m) with McDevitt third in the 400m in 1:03.20.

McDevitt and Duffy teamed up with Ava Anderson and Lexi Campbell for third in the 4x100m, clocking 52.92 second and beaten by Tullamore (50.03) and Lagan Valley (51.86).

Anderson was second in the discus (24.74m) and third in the weight for distance (5.59m) to earn valuable points while Tir Chonaill AC women’s captain Ciara Cunningham finished third in the 3000m in 10:54.89.

Lexi Campbell was fourth in the 100m hurdles (19.79 seconds) and also in the long jump (4.16m()

There were similar placings for McDevitt in the 200m (26.70 seconds) and Aoibhe Rose Curran in the 800m (2:49.75) with Curran sixth in the high jump.

The 4x400m quartet of McDevitt, Savannah Timoney, Doherty and Duffy were fifth with Kitty McNulty fifth in the 2000m steeplechase and Niamh Mahon fifth in the javelin.

McNulty ended joint third in the pole vault when clearing 1.55m while Timoney concluded sixth over 1500m.

In the Premier Men team, Tir Chonaill AC finished fifth overall on 92 points with Clonliffe Harriers winning with 136 points.

Conall Mahon took victory in the triple jump when leaping out to 14.25m while Eoin Sharkey was the winner of the 400m hurdles in 53.94 seconds.

Ethan Dewhirst was third in the 110m hurdles in 15.90 seconds and there were also third-place finishes for Jack Murphy in the pole vault (3.60m), Mahon in the long jump (6.38m) and Shane Breslin in the shot (10.34m).

Mahon, Sharkey and the Dewhirst brothers, Fintan and Ethan, were fourth in the 4x100m relay in 44.70 seconds. The same quartet was sixth in the 4x400m relay.

Alex Anderson finished fourth in both the hammer (37.01m) and discus (29.28m) events while Robert Anderson was fourth in the weight for distance thanks to a best effort of 5.57m.

Jack Kelly had a busy afternoon and was fourth in the 3000m steeplechase, fifth in the 800m and seventh over 1500m.

Sharkey was sixth in the 400m with Eoin Boyle sixth in the high jump, Shaun Kerrs sixth in the 5000m and Shane Breslin sixth in the javelin.

There were also seventh-place finishes for sprinters Ethan Dewhirst in the 200m and Ben Campbell in the 100m.
