Brett McGinty won’t return to the ring until he’s ‘fully ready'.

The St Johnston boxer defeated Patrik Fiala on points in Dublin in March.

McGinty overcame a hand injury, sustained in the second round of the bout, to claim a 58-56 points victory at the National Stadium.

In his previous fight, when he scored a 59-55 points win over Alessandro Ruggiero, McGinty hurt the hand.

Sitting at 7-0 in the professional ranks, the 24-year-old former Oakleaf Boxing Club amateur standout says he’s keen to get his body right before stepping through the ropes again.

“Having a bit of a rest and recharge at the minute, letting a few injuries I picked up in my last couple of fights recover,” McGinty said.

“I’ve veen offered a few fight dates over the summer, but unfortunately it was too soon so better to leave it until I’m fully ready.”
