Natasha Adams on top of the podium in Tullamore.
Natasha Adams smashed the course record to win the National Half Marathon title on Saturday.
The Letterkenny AC woman claimed the women’s title at the Bord Na Mona Tullamore Harriers Half Marathon.
Adams led the way in 1:18:15 to finish ahead of Heather Murphy (01:18:53 St. Michaels AC), and Norah Necombe Pieterse (01:19:13 Mayo AC).
Earlier in the summer, Adams won the Lisburn Half Marathon. In 2021, she was a member of the Letterkenny AC women’s team who took the National Cross Country title and they returned for team silver last season.
Victory in Tullamore closes out her campaign on the road with the cross country season looming.
“It was tough and there was a changing wind, but I was happy with my rhythm throughout so kept a pretty consistent pace throughout,” Adams said.
“I was just going for the win really and not really a time, so the race went to plan.
“I’ll take a break now and then come back for cross country so that’ll be the the end of my road season now and I’ll look forward to getting back on the grass again”.
Saturday’s race in Tullamore was sold out with Leevale AC’s Ryan Creech winning the men’s race in 1:05:47 - also a course record.
Inishowen AC took the M50 team title. The Inishowen trio were led by Pauric McKinney, who clocked 1:15:37 for 42nd overall with Martin McLucas 53rd in 1:16:30 and Liam Bradley 99th in 1:19:38.
Inishowen won team gold from United Striders and Naomh Mhuire AC.
