Ryan MacHugh in action at the 2023 Donegal International Rally.
Frosses rally driver Ryan MacHugh has been confirmed as a nominee for the prestigious Billy Coleman Award.
Motorsport Ireland have announced the 25-year-old among those in the running to land the prize.
McHugh is a former Junior Irish Tarmac Rally Champion who won the Junior Donegal International Rally in 2022 and was the Irish Tarmac Junior Champion last year.
An OEM Engineer Apprentice with Moffett Automated Storage, MacHugh drives a Ford Fiesta Rally4 and plans to compete in some events over the winter.,
McHugh is regularly joined by co-driver Declan Boyle while his brother Neil of NMH Motorsport is a big part of his team.
internationally in 2024. Coupled with Sport Ireland and Motorsport Ireland’s €50,000 investment, a further €50,000 has been pledged by the Team Ireland Foundation.
The award winner will also receive assistance from Billy Coleman co-ordinator Sean McHugh. Additional support from the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy as part of a training and development plan to progress the winners’ career will also be available and the recipient will receive €100,000 worth of support to contest rallies nationally.
Another Frosses driver, Eamonn Kelly, won the Billy Coleman Award in 2022 while Stuart Darcy and Shaun Gallagher from Donegal won the award in 2001 and 2002.
