Ultrarunner Ed McGroarty will represent Ireland at the IAU World 24-Hour Championships next month.
The Lifford-Strabane AC runner will travel to Chinese Taipei to compete.
McGroarty and Anne Jennings of Dublin Bay Running Club will be the Irish representatives in the Championships.
McGroarty is the Irish 24-hour record holder. Last September, he broke the record at the 24 Hour European Championships in Verona, Italy, where he totted up 258.82 kilometres.
Beforehand he retained his Irish title with 255.8 km in Belfast and in 2021, McGroarty became the first Irish ultra runner to break 250km when he set a new mark of 256.57km.
McGroarty also holds the record for running from Mizen Head to Malin Head having ran the distance in a time of three days, one hour and 55 minutes in June, 2021.
McGroarty and Jennings will also be competing in the World Masters Athletics 24hr Championships. The addition of the Masters Race is part of a strategy to develop Ultra Running globally.
