The World Darts Championship is officially underway in London's Alexandra Palace.

Meath man Keane Barry has an uphill task in the second round following his 3-1 victory over Reynaldo Rivera in round one of the tournament over the weekend.

Tonight around 10.15pm, the 21-year-old comes up against world number two Michael van Gerwen on the Ally Pally stage.

'Mighty Mike', defeated by Michael Smith in the World Darts Championship final last January, aims to claim his fourth world title if he can go all the way this time around.

Meanwhile, Carlow's Steve Lennon and Limerick native William O'Connor play their first round fixtures on Wednesday.

Darts fans can watch all the action live on Sky Sports throughout Christmas.

MATCH ODDS

Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands) 1/14
