It's not often a British and Commonwealth champion boxer drops in to your local school for a visit.
Well that's what happened at Rockfield NS, Ballyshannon on Wednesday morning when current British and Commonwealth Bantamweight champion, Sean McGoldrick, arrived and was given a ring-walk welcome.
McGoldrick's father, Liam, has strong Ballyshannon family connections and they have returned to live locally in Rossnowlagh from Newport in South Wales.
There has always been a strong link between Ballyshannon and Newport going back many years.

Sean McGoldrick has been a regular visitor to the Ballyshannon area over many years and on Wednesday he took part in a question and answer session with the children in Rockfield NS. He told them that during his amateur career he won Commonwealth bronze and gold medals while his professional career to date has seen him with 14 fights and just one defeat.
He became British Bantamweight champion in February of last year and since then has been involved in coaching. His plans for 2024 will not be known until the new year.
