Seán MacCumhaill’s handball star, Avril McNamee, claimed the European One Wall Dutch Open title in Holland over the weekend adding another illustrious achievement to her already impressive career. 

The handball champion had previously etched her name in history by clinching the world title in 2018 in Minnesota, where she triumphed over Ellen O’Connor of Kildare in a fiercely contested match.  

What sets McNamee's recent victory apart is the extraordinary fact that the Dutch championship marked her first competition in five years.  

Despite the extended hiatus from competitive play, McNamee showcased her unwavering skill and mastery of the game with her journey back to the competitive arena after such an extended break adding a layer of inspiration to her latest triumph.
