Aidan Gillespie
Rosses AC’s Aidan Gillespie has set a new Irish record at the Connaught Indoor Championships.
Gillespie broke the national men’s 50 category over the 60m hurdles with a flying time of 9.51 seconds.
Aidan has worked on a number of things over the winter months and got his reward. A huge well done from all within the club.
Elsewhere at Rosses AC, a great event was hosted by Rosses Community School, Dungloe last Friday when eight primary schools took part in the sportshall competition against each other in a number of events including speed bounce, standing long jump, vertical jump, chest throw and relay.
A team of students from RCS coordinated the events alongside Donegal Sports Partnership, Rosses AC committee and under the guidance of Dermot McGrenaghan ensuring a top class event.
A big well done to all the schools who participated in a great sporting manner throughout. Well done to the narrow winners on the day which was Annagry school.
Well done also to all on a really enjoyable and fun day. This weekend is a big weekend for many of our juvenile athletes as the Ulster Indoor Track and Field Championships take place in Abbotstown in Dublin.
The club has 40 athletes travelling and for some it will be the first time to experience an indoor event. Best of luck to all athletes, coaches and officials.
