Donegal stars shine bright at National Juvenile Indoor Championships

Finn Valley AC's Jasmine Barrett-Doherty who won gold in the high jump

Donegal athletics were very well represented at the National Juvenile Indoor Championships at the weekend in Athlone.

For Finn Valley AC Jasmine Barrett-Doherty took Gold on Day 1 in the U-13 high jump. Barrett-Doherty arched over at 1.47m for a huge 9cm PB that earned gold, beating off Maya Mobius of Blackrock AC (1.44m).

Ahead of her final jump in Athlone, Barrett-Doherty was in fourth spot but the Finn Valley AC woman leap into the finals on her final go and secured the U-13 gold.

Elsewhere for Finn Valley, Adam Breen, Matthew Lynch, Jamie Lydon, and Kyle Doherty finished in 2:00.58 for third spot in the U-12 4x200m relay, which saw the side take home silver.
While for the Tír Chonaill AC, they added their club to the medal tally as Jamie Kennedy took home silver with a new PB in the U-18 Triple Jump.
Letterkenny AC added to Donegal's success as the U-16 boys captured the All-Ireland in the 4x200 m indoor relay.
Winning their heat in a time of 1:38.08, Harry McIlwaine, Daragh Naughton, Michael Donaghey, and Brendan Ndamira ran a very strong race before finishing with a very competitive final as they held off Leevale in a very impressive time of 1:37.36.
