Donegal’s Jack Browne made history by capturing bronze at the first-ever MMA Youth continental tournament, as part of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) European Champions, which kicked off last Saturday, March 30, in Belgrade, Serbia.

The final score on the medal table saw Ireland ranked second with nine honours won, with the Irish fighters claiming two gold, one silver and six bronze. Only Ukraine bettered Ireland with 22 medals won.

The young Donegal man, who took part in the Youth A Lightweight division, was helped along the way by local sponsorship to help get him to Serbia, due to the fact that MMA is not funded in Ireland.

The tournament will conclude this weekend with the gold medal matches for all Senior categories taking place on Saturday.
