Brendan Boyce will aim to qualify for his fourth Olympic Games later this month.

The Finn Valley AC race walker has been confirmed on the Ireland team for the World Race Walking Team Championships.

The Championships will take place in Antalya, Turkey on Sunday, April 21 and Milford native Boyce is eyeing up a place in Paris.

This competition is given added significance in 2024 as it will be the first championships to stage the Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay, and will serve as the primary qualification opportunity in that event for the Olympics.

Boyce and Kate Veale from West Waterford will spearhead the Irish challenge.

The first 22 teams at the World Race Walk Team Championships Antalya 2024 shall automatically qualify for the Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay event at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Up to five of the first 22 teams can be a second team of the same country.

Boyce, now based in Cork where he is coached by former World race walking champion Rob Heffernan, has just spent three weeks in training in Mexico.

Boyce competed at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games over the 50km race walk, an event that has since been shelved.

In December, Boyce and Veale partnered at the first ever Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay ever held in Europe.

At St Anne's Park in Raheny, they finished the 42k in 3:11:48.
