No joy for Carndonagh boxer Kieran Cunningham in national final

Carndonagh boxer Kieran Cunningham lost out in a National Junior 2 Championship final on Sunday.

Cunningham was defeated by Reuben Aigbologa of Mayfield.

The Carn middleweight was aiming for glory in the Junior 2 finals hosted by Castlerea BC in Roscommon.

Cunningham was the only Donegal boxer to make it to Sunday's finals.

Cunningham overcame Daniel McConagh from Geesala in his semi-final. There, Cunningham claimed a narrow 3-2 split decision win

Aigbologa, for his part, defeated Aaron Duignan from Sacred Heart to book his place in the final.

Raphoe BC's Rian Patton was beaten in a 52kgs semi-final by Antrim's John Joe Boyle while St John Bosco woman Nadine Pearson lost on a unanimous decision to Muskerry's Chelsea Jordan ina 57kgs semi.
