Eddie Gallen finished third at the Irish 24-Hour Championships at the weekend.

The Finn Valley AC athlete competed 201.463km at Victoria Park.

The National Championships were held alongside the Belfast 24 Hour Ultra.

The winner was Jason Nichol of St. Finbarr's, Cork, who completed 231.187km.

Niall McGuigan from City of Derry Spartans was second when completing 214.674km.

Earlier this year, Gallen was second in a 100km race in Sotillo de la Adrada in Spain, finishing in 10 hours and 10 minutes.

The Ballybofey man was also second in the Across the Years Ireland 24-hour track race in January, going 523 laps at the Leixlip Amenities Centre.

The race got underway at midday on New Year’s Eve and Gallen clocked top 23 hours, 59 minutes and two seconds. In total, Gallen ran 209.2 km.
