Keith Cronin during the Donegal International Rally
Keith Cronin has moved ahead of Matt Edwards at the top of the leaderboard after Stage 4 of the Donegal International Rally.
Following the driver's 30-minute service break in Carndonagh, the teams resumed back in Malin Head for Stage 4 with Edwards then leading Cronin by just 2.1 seconds after 39 kilometres of racing action while Kevin Gallagher resumed the lead in the modified section.
With the rain playing a huge factor Cronin has now taken the lead and is now nine seconds ahead of Edwards, as Callum Devine makes up the rest of the top three. The reigning champion is 23.7 seconds off the top spot.
The very first junction around Malin Head saw an overshoot for Edwards as he came off the Stage and lost 11 seconds.
Josh Moffitt had similar issues and lost some time around Malin due to power steering issues but remains in the top five spot behind Cathal McCourt and Brian Hoye.
In the modified section Gary McPhillips, who was the closest to Gallagher lost eight seconds due to control issues on account of the weather which sees the Rathmullan man now hold a 16.7-second advantage in 13th position overall.
