This follows the claims that were made in the joint report by the RTE and Sunday Independent

WATCH: FAI Interim CEO has apologised to former players and trainees

Following a joint investigation by the RTÉ investigates and the Sunday Independent that former players and trainees that experienced alleged unwanted or inappropriate advances from coaches working for the FAI that date back to the 1990s, the FAI in a press conference have come out and apologised to the victims of these incidents.

The press conference was held outside FAI headquarters and interim CEO David Courell said this in the press conference:

"We hear you. We are sorry for what you had to endure. We are sorry that the modern practices and reporting structures that we now have in place were not there for you when you needed them."

"All I can do is encourage people is that if they have nay concern or if they have experienced anything, we do implore you to please come forward, we want to learn from this. These experiences that these women have gone through should not be in vein. So please do report it."
