Kelly McGrory will be on the plane to the Olympic Games.

The Tir Chonaill AC woman has been confirmed as part of both the mixed 4x400m and women's 4x400m squads that will travel to Paris.

The Laghey woman and Finn Valley AC's 800m ace Mark English are part of the athletics team that has been officially confirmed by the Olympic Federation of Ireland.

The track and field events will take place in the Stade de France, which transforms from the Rugby Sevens events earlier in the Games to a bespoke athletics stadium, with a purple track.

English was already assured of his place having twice broken the Irish 800m record recently.

Competing at Meeting Madrid, English clocked 1:44.53 just three days after confirming his place at the 2024 Olympics with a 1:44.69 run at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland.

Previously, the Letterkenny native competed at the 2016 and 2021 editions of the Olympic Games.

McGrory, though, is set for her first Olympic experience.

McGrory and Chris O'Donnell from Sligo, a former student at Magh Ene in Bundoran, are among those named in the mixed 4x400m squad.

That squad also incldes Rhasidat Adeleke, Sharlene Mawdsley, Sophie Becker, Phil Healy, Lauren Cadden, Rachel McCan, Thomas Barr and Jack Raftery.

McGrory has also been named in the women's 4x400m squad alongside Adeleke, Mawdsley, Becker, Healy, Cadden and McCann.

Cliodhna Manning and Roisín Harrison have been confirmed as non-travelling reserves for both the mixed 4x400m and women's 4x400m squads.

McGrory set a new Donegal 400m record, going 52.62 seconds at the IFAM Outdoor meet in Brussels in May.

The 27-year-old competed in the 400m hurdles at the European Athletics Championships in Rome, where she also clocked a Donegal record of 57.10 seconds.

Letterkenny AC woman Teresa McDaid has been confirmed as the Ireland athletics team manager for the Games.
