Alex McAleer and Cahir Gormley bowed out of the National U22 Championships on Friday night.

Ballyshannon Boxing Club's McAleer and Gormley, representing the Illies Golden Gloves, lost out in semi-finals.

McAleer lost out on a unanimous decision to Dublin Docklands' Joshua Tumana at 63.5kgs at the National Stadium.

McAleer stopped Edenmore's Dylan O'Loughlin in a quarter-final seven nights previously, but Tumana proved too strong.

Cabra's Bobbi Flood got the better of Gormley in a light-middleweight semi.

Flood, the 2022 European Youth champion, took a unanimous decision. Flood had toppled Jon McConnell from the Holy Trinity BC in Belfast in a quarter-final while Gormley was handed a walkover following the withdrawal of Flow Academy's Cody Lee Peoples.
