Here are Donegal's previous Olympians

There will be a sizeable Donegal interest in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the county has a proud history of people from Donegal or people who were attached to its sports clubs competing at the Olympics

Brian Anderson (Boxing; 1964)

The Ballybofey boxer emigrated to London in the 1950s and hooked up with Middle Row Boxing Club. When Jim Neill withdrew injured before the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Anderson was called up.

His arrival, given that he had been out of sight and out of mind in London, caused a stir, but Anderson went to Tokyo as Ireland's light-welterweight representative.

Anderson came up against Cambodian Nol Touch, but lost out to a narrow 3-2 decision from the judges.
