Eamonn Kelly finished in sixth place in Finland

Donegal rally driver Eamonn Kelly achieved an impressive sixth place in a highly competitive Junior WRC field this weekend in Finland.

This result is his best since securing a podium finish in Sweden at the start of the World Rally Championship's third tier.

Kelly drove his Ford Fiesta R3 through the fast and demanding Finnish stages, recording several competitive stage times and reaching second place at one point on Friday.

Despite suffering an unfortunate puncture on SS15 on Saturday, he still managed a solid sixth place finish in one of the most challenging events on the world rally calendar.

The Frosses native is now ninth in the JWRC standings, with the final round of the season taking place at the renowned Acropolis Rally in Greece next month.
