Kilmacrennan man Rhys Irwin returns to the Thruxton Circuit this weekend

Double podium for Rhys Irwin at Snetterton

Rhys Irwin will be back in action this weekend in Hampshire

Rhys Irwin returns to the Thruxton Circuit this weekend and hopes to continue his fine form at this event, following two podium places this time last year in Hampshire.

The 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship heads to the fastest circuit in the UK where Thruxton in Hampshire hosts the seventh round of the series this weekend.

Irwin certainly lived up to his nickname of the ‘Smiling Assassin’ as he smiled from ear to ear after maintaining second place when finishing third in Race 1 and second in Race 2 in August 2023.

He rode a safe race with the Championship in his sights and he made no error in taking the Suzuki home in third following a steward’s inquiry resulting in another competitor being disqualified from the race results due to an infringement of the rules.

This comes two months after the Kilmacrennan man signed a contract with Gearlink Kawasaki and Team Green UK, joining them for the remainder of the British Superbikes season after making the difficult decision to part ways with his much-loved Astro Suzuki Team.
